المساجد وملاحظات للمسافر المسلم

دليل الطعام الحلال
Budapest has a small Muslim community, a few mosques and an Ottoman past you can still visit. Halal food is available but not everywhere, so plan meals around a handful of trusted places.

Prayer & practicalities

Prayer rooms
Prayer rooms are rare outside mosques. Malls and museums seldom have one, so plan Dhuhr and Asr near your hotel or a mosque; the two are close together in December.
Short winter days
In December, Fajr is around 05:30 and Maghrib before 16:00. Use an app for local times and check Friday prayer at the mosque.
Visiting Gül Baba
Dress modestly and keep your voice low in the tomb. The walk up Gül Baba utca is steep and cobbled.

Good to know

Halal is self-declared
Hungary has no national halal certification body. Ask staff directly and look for a displayed certificate.
Pork and lard are everywhere
Traditional Hungarian dishes, sausages and even some pastries use pork or lard. Ask before ordering, even with vegetable dishes.
Fish and vegetarian strategies
Halászlé (fish soup), river fish and lángos with sour cream and cheese are good fallbacks; vegetarian and vegan restaurants are plentiful.
Alcohol at the markets
Mulled wine is the centre of every Christmas market. Look for hot tea, hot chocolate and non-alcoholic fruit punch instead.
