10 November · Atatürk commemoration

At 09:05 sirens sound and the city stops for a minute’s silence. Stand still with everyone; Dolmabahçe draws large crowds that day.

22 October–3 December · Istanbul Theatre Festival

İKSV’s 30th festival brings Turkish and international productions to stages across the city. Check surtitles before booking.

No Biennial this year

The Istanbul Biennial is not on in 2026; the 19th edition is planned for 2027. Galleries in Karaköy and Dolapdere still open new shows.

Contemporary Istanbul

The city’s main art fair ran in late September 2026, so autumn gallery exhibitions are still fresh in November.
