A six-day rhythm
Day 1
Baščaršija
Sebilj, Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and the copper lanes in the morning, ćevapi for lunch, then the Yellow Fortress for sunset.
Day 2
Empires on the river
The Latin Bridge and Museum 1878–1918, Vijećnica, a riverside walk along the Miljacka and dinner at Inat Kuća.
Day 3
Memory & mountain
The Tunnel of Hope in the morning, then the cable car up Trebević for autumn forest and the old bobsleigh track.
Day 4
Ilidža
Vrelo Bosne by carriage or on foot along the plane-tree avenue, with lunch in Ilidža.
Day 5
Mostar
A long day south to Mostar, with Počitelj and Blagaj on the way.
Day 6+
Go deeper
Jajce and Travnik, Konjic on the Neretva, or the stone village of Lukomir high on Bjelašnica.
Honest thought: the old town is compact and walkable, but the hills are steep and October days are shorter. Sightsee in daylight, keep evenings for the bazaar, and allow a full day for each trip out of the city.
