Before you go

Book official tickets
Buy the Alcázar, cathedral and Alhambra on their official websites; resellers charge more and cannot change bookings.
Spanish hours
Lunch is 2–4pm and dinner from 9pm. Some small shops close in the afternoon; malls stay open all day.
Sundays & holidays
Many shops close on Sundays. Cathedral visits start later on Sundays because of Mass.
Layer up
Mornings and evenings can feel cool, around 10°C. Bring a light jacket and an umbrella for showers.
Walk, then tram
The centre is best on foot. The short Metrocentro tram links the cathedral, Puerta de Jerez and San Bernardo.
Taxis & apps
White taxis are metered; Uber, Cabify and Bolt work well. The airport run is a fixed fare.
Watch your bag
Pickpockets work the crowds around the cathedral and on busy streets. Use a zipped bag.
Visas
Spain is in the Schengen area. Check your visa rules and the EU’s Entry/Exit System before travelling.
Modest dress in churches
Cover shoulders and knees inside the cathedral and churches; no hats.
Cards everywhere
Contactless payment is almost universal. Keep a few euros for markets and tips.
Tipping
Not expected. Rounding up or leaving 5–10% for good service is appreciated.
Stay connected
An eSIM covering the EU is easiest. Most hotels and cafés have free Wi-Fi.
Seville is safe and welcoming, and Andalusians are proud of their Al-Andalus heritage. Speak a few words of Spanish — “hola”, “gracias”, “por favor” — and doors open quickly.
