Why AlUla?

Ancient kingdoms · oasis · desert · stars · design
Days in the high 20s, nights that drop towards 13°C and almost no rain: November is when AlUla is easiest to explore outdoors.

What makes it special

Saudi Arabia’s first World Heritage Site
Hegra’s 110-plus Nabataean tombs are carved straight into sandstone outcrops, the southern sister of Petra.
Older kingdoms still
At Dadan and Jabal Ikmah, the Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms left tombs and hundreds of inscriptions long before the Nabataeans.
A living oasis
Date palms and citrus groves run beside the mud-brick Old Town, with shaded trails between them.
Architecture in the landscape
Maraya, the world’s largest mirrored building, reflects the Ashar Valley back at itself.
Some of the darkest skies in Arabia
AlUla has several International Dark Sky Parks; stargazing here is simple and memorable.
Rock you can read
Elephant Rock, the Gharameel spires and the Harrat lava plateau make every drive scenic.
Gulf-friendly
Food is halal everywhere, mosques are close by and the pace suits families and older travellers.
The season starts now
The AlUla Skies Festival fills the first half of November with balloons, telescopes and night hikes.
