Good to know
Mud volcanoes after rain
The track is passable only when dry. After rain even four-wheel drives struggle, so keep the day flexible.
Shahdag by bus
Buses run from Baku International Bus Station to Qusar every half hour in the day; take a taxi from Qusar to the resort.
Winter driving
Mountain roads need winter tyres; a driver with a 4x4 is the calm choice for Shahdag.
Gobustan in one go
Combine the rock art, the mud volcanoes and Bibi-Heybat Mosque in one half-day with a driver.
