Before you go

Late summer stays popular
Accommodation, restaurants and central areas can be busy. Book ahead.
Cycle lanes are real traffic
Look before stepping into them and never stand in them. Rush hours are 07:00–09:00 and 15:00–17:00.
Swim only where it’s official
Use official harbour bathing areas, not any waterfront edge, and check harbour water quality first.
Do the Copenhagen Card maths
It only makes sense if its attractions and transport fit your plan.
Use an app for public transport
The Rejsebillet app handles tickets and zones; a City Pass can make sense for frequent rides.
Nyhavn is for atmosphere
Excellent for photos, but it shouldn’t be your food strategy.
Leave Indre By
Copenhagen becomes richer when you include neighbourhoods.
Check exact dates
For events, exhibitions, closures and restaurant holidays.
Tipping
Not expected; rounding up is optional.
Tap water
Safe to drink; carry a refillable bottle.
Public toilets
Free public toilets are available around the city.
Car rental
Hourly or daily electric cars from GreenMobility.
