Georgia has required visitors to hold travel insurance since January 2026. Make sure yours covers skiing and paragliding.

Entry rules
Check the visa and entry rules for your passport on the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs site before you book.

Paragliding safety
Fly only with an established operator using certified tandem pilots and insurance. Flights stop in wind or low cloud; don’t push for a slot. Wear ski clothing, gloves and goggles.
Off-piste
Avalanche risk is real above the pistes. Go off-piste or heli-skiing only with a certified guide and proper safety kit.
Ski patrol
A permanent ski patrol has worked the resort since 2016. Save 112 and your hotel’s number in your phone.
Lifts and lift passes
Lifts run roughly 10:00–17:00; night skiing near Pirveli on Fridays and Saturdays is included in the day pass.
Taxis in Tbilisi
Use Bolt rather than street taxis; agree mountain transfers in advance.
Cash
Cards work in Tbilisi and most resort hotels; carry lari for roadside stops and small cafés.
Service charge
Many restaurants add 10–20% service. If not, 10% is a kind tip.
Plugs
Types C and F, 230 V. Bring an adaptor from Kuwait.
Stay connected
A local SIM from Magti gives good coverage in the mountains.
Gudauri is friendly and relaxed, and Georgia is generally safe for visitors. The real risks are weather and roads: build slack into every plan.
