Why Gudauri & Tbilisi?

Slopes · passes · paragliding · churches · old Tbilisi
Deep winter at 2,000 metres and above: cold, bright days, regular snowfall and a mountain road that sometimes decides your plans for you.

What makes it special

Georgia’s biggest ski area
Lifts climb from about 2,000 m to 3,276 m, with wide open runs above the tree line and plenty of room to learn.
Good for beginners
Gentle slopes at the base and at Sadzele, a free people mover for learners and about ten ski schools.
Flying over snow
Tandem paragliders launch from the top of the Kudebi lift and float down over the valley.
A legendary road
The Georgian Military Road climbs past fortresses and gorges to the Jvari Pass, its highest point at about 2,400 m.
Kazbegi beyond
On clear days when the pass is open, Gergeti Trinity Church stands under Mount Kazbek, 32 km further on.
A taste of Tbilisi
Sulphur-bath domes, wooden balconies and a mosque at the foot of Narikala fortress, an hour or two from the airport.
Good value
A day lift pass costs far less than in the Alps, and lessons and rentals are reasonable.
Close to home
A short flight from Kuwait to real Caucasus snow, without a long-haul trip.
