Good to know
Licensed operators only
For the escarpment and the dunes, book a licensed 4x4 tour rather than driving off-road yourself.
Time it around iftar
Leave after suhoor or breakfast and be back before sunset, or join a tour that includes iftar.
Pack for the desert
Water, sturdy shoes, a hat and a warm layer; February nights in the desert are cold.
Stay back from the edge
Keep children close at viewpoints and stay well back from cliff edges, especially in wind.
