Compact and walkable, with most restaurants, shops, Arktikum and Korundi on foot. The easiest base without a car.

Cabins, igloos and hotels on the Arctic Circle, close to the airport. Magical for small children, but quiet in the evening.

The forested hill just east of the river, with ski slopes, trails and wide views. Darker skies than the centre for aurora watching.

Glass-fronted suites on a forested slope next to SantaPark, within walking distance of Santa Claus Village. Home to Rakas restaurant.

On top of Ounasvaara hill, about 4 km from the centre, beside the slopes. Its panorama restaurant looks over the town.

Glass-roofed Aurora Cabins and suites by a lake, about 20 minutes from town and 10 from Santa Claus Village, with its own husky, reindeer and snowmobile programme.

Heated glass igloos all winter, plus a snow hotel and ice restaurant rebuilt each year; it opens on 15 December 2026.
