Day 3

Museums

Moerenuma Park with art and design, or the Historical Village and Hokkaido Museum.

Day trip

Otaru or Jozankei.

Day 5+

Overnight stays

Asahikawa, Furano/Biei or Noboribetsu, depending on season and interests.

Winter variation: swap an art or nature day for a ski or snow day — several ski areas are within practical reach of the city.
