Good to know
Start early
Days are short in November; aim to be on the first trains and back after dark.
Reserve seats
Romancecar, Tobu and shinkansen seats fill on weekends and around the 21–23 November long weekend.
Send luggage ahead
Hotels can forward suitcases by takkyubin for a small fee, so you travel light.
Fuji is shy
Mount Fuji hides in cloud on many days. Check the live cameras before you set off.
