Plan your days

How many days? Find the right amount of time
Essential Zermatt
3 days minimum
Zermatt + beyond
5–6 days

A five-day rhythm

Day 1
Arrive and walk
Train in from Visp or Täsch, check in, then walk the main street, the Hinterdorf barns and the church square at dusk.
Day 2
Gornergrat
Ride the cog railway to 3,089 m early, while the sky is clearest. Stop at Riffelberg for the sledge run, then come down for hot chocolate.
Day 3
Sunnegga for the children
Ski school or Wolli’s Park in the morning, a sunny lunch on the mountain and an easy afternoon in the village.
Day 4
Glacier Paradise
Three lifts to 3,883 m for the viewing platform and the Glacier Palace. Go on a clear, calm day and keep it short with small children.
Day 5+
Go further
Cross to Cervinia for lunch in Italy, ski a full day, or take the Glacier Express towards St. Moritz.
Honest thought: weather decides everything up here. Keep the high viewpoints flexible and move them to the first clear morning. Altitude tires young children quickly, so plan one mountain trip a day and rest in between.
