Coffee in Paris
Paris has roasted coffee for well over a century, and a few addresses still let you taste single origins much as a wine merchant would.
Rue Saint-Honoré, 1st arrondissement
Café Verlet
Roasting since 1880 a few steps from the Palais-Royal, with a 1920s interior of wooden tables, mirrors and parquet. Choose from more than thirty coffees and forty teas, and buy beans to take home.

Le Marais, 4th arrondissement
La Caféothèque
A roaster, café and coffee school near the Seine, opened in 2005, with beans from growers in Africa and Latin America. It has run introductory tasting workshops at weekends; book ahead.
