A five-day rhythm
Day 1
Göreme
Settle into your cave hotel, walk the village and climb above it for sunset over the rooftops.
Day 2
Balloons & churches
Balloons at dawn, the Göreme Open-Air Museum after breakfast, then Paşabağ and Zelve in the afternoon.
Day 3
Valleys
Walk Red and Rose valleys from Çavuşin, or Pigeon Valley from Göreme to Uçhisar Castle for the view.
Day 4
Underground
Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu in the morning, then lunch in Mustafapaşa among old Greek houses.
Day 5+
Go deeper
Ihlara Valley and Selime Monastery, the churches of Soğanlı, or a long day to Konya and the Mevlana Museum.
Honest thought: balloon flights are cancelled when the wind is wrong. Book your flight for your first morning so there are spare mornings to rebook if it is called off.
