A five-day rhythm
Day 1
Frankincense city
Al Baleed Archaeological Park and the Museum of the Frankincense Land, then Al Haffa souq and coconut water by the beach at sunset.
Day 2
East to Taqah & Mirbat
Khor Rori and Sumhuram in the morning, Taqah Castle, then Mirbat’s old port and castle.
Day 3
Hills & springs
Wadi Darbat early, Ain Razat for a shaded picnic, and the Tawi Atair sinkhole if you still have energy.
Day 4
West to Mughsail
The Al Marneef blowholes and Mughsail beach, then the mountain road towards Fazayah.
Day 5+
Go deeper
The frankincense trees of Wadi Dawkah and the ruins at Shisr on the edge of the Empty Quarter.
Honest thought: you need a car in Salalah. Sights are spread along 150 kilometres of coast and hills, and public transport does not reach most of them. Sightsee in the morning and late afternoon, and rest at midday.
