Why Abu Dhabi?

Mosque · museums · islands · mangroves · desert
Days in the mid-20s, nights around 16°C and very little rain make February one of the best months for walking, kayaking and long museum days.

What makes it special

A mosque that stops you still
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, with its 82 white domes and vast hand-knotted carpet, is reason enough to come.
A museum island
The Louvre, the Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum now stand side by side on Saadiyat, with the Guggenheim due to join them.
Architecture at its boldest
Jean Nouvel, Norman Foster, Frank Gehry and Mecanoo have all built here within a short drive of each other.
Calm and green
Wide boulevards, a long Corniche, mangrove channels and parks make Abu Dhabi feel slower than its neighbour.
Family days on Yas
Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld and Yas Waterworld share one island near the airport.
Desert and oasis
The palm groves of Al Ain and the giant dunes of Liwa are both an easy day away.
Ramadan nights
In Ramadan the city comes alive after iftar, with lit-up mosques, night markets and late family evenings.
Close to home
A short flight from Kuwait, with halal food everywhere and a familiar Gulf rhythm.
