Essential Bangkok
2 days minimum
Bangkok + beyond
5+ days

A five-day rhythm

Day 1
The royal island
Grand Palace at opening, Wat Pho after, then a ferry to Wat Arun and a riverside sunset.
Day 2
Old town & Chinatown
Golden Mount and Wat Saket in the morning, Talat Noi lanes by afternoon, Yaowarat after dark.
Day 3
Design & malls
Jim Thompson House, BACC and Siam’s malls; finish with a rooftop view over Silom.
Day 4
Day trip
Ayutthaya’s ruins, or a weekend floating market paired with the Maeklong Railway Market.
Day 5+
Go deeper
Chatuchak on a weekend, a cycle on Bang Krachao, or a night in Kanchanaburi or Khao Yai.
Honest thought: traffic is the hidden cost of Bangkok. Plan each day along one rail line or the river, and keep midday for lunch and air-conditioning.
