Cairo with children

A stroller-friendly rhythm matters more than chasing every attraction
Old Cairo’s pavements are uneven and traffic is fierce, so use a carrier rather than a stroller in the historic areas and plan green breaks between sights.

Attractions

Giza
GEM Children’s Museum
Hands-on galleries for ages 6–12 inside the Grand Egyptian Museum, with a guided tour in the afternoon.
6th of October
Ski Egypt
An indoor snow park inside Mall of Egypt, with penguins, a snow play area and slopes.
Garden City
Felucca on the Nile
An hour under sail from the Corniche landings; gentle, cheap and loved by children.

Parks

Darb al-Ahmar
Al-Azhar Park
Gardens, fountains and playgrounds on a hilltop above Islamic Cairo, with a lakeside café and sunset views of the minarets.
Zamalek
Fish Garden (Aquarium Grotto)
A small 19th-century garden in Zamalek with rocky grottoes and paths children love to explore.
New Cairo
Family Park
A large landscaped park in New Cairo with rides, play areas and picnic lawns.
Children under six enter the Grand Egyptian Museum free. Carry wipes, water and snacks, and keep a firm hand near traffic; crossings in Cairo need patience.
