Colmar with children

A stroller-friendly rhythm matters more than chasing every attraction

Colmar is flat and compact, so little legs manage well. Mix a market with a warm museum, and keep the big wheel for after dark.

Children’s Christmas market

In Little Venice on Place des Six Montagnes Noires: animals, a mechanical nativity, a carousel and a giant letterbox for letters to Father Christmas.

Musée du Jouet

Teddy bears, dolls, robots and a model railway; open daily in December.

Boats in Little Venice

A short ride on the canals; in Advent, some boats carry children singing carols.

Treasure hunts

Colmar and several villages run Christmas treasure hunts for children; ask at the tourist office.

Prams

The markets are cramped at weekends; a carrier is easier than a pushchair after dark.

French school holidays run from 19 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. Weekdays before then are the calmest time to visit with children.
