A stroller-friendly rhythm matters more than chasing every attraction

Snow is the attraction. Short lessons, sledging and hot chocolate beat long days on the lifts for small children.

Ski school for children

About ten schools teach group and private lessons; many instructors speak English. Book lessons ahead for the holiday week.

Tubing & sledging

Tubing and sledging areas near the village are a joy for children too young for skis.

Helmets and goggles

Rent helmets for every child; February sun on snow is strong, so pack sunscreen too.

Short days

Lifts run roughly 10:00–17:00. Two hours of lessons is plenty for a five-year-old.

Altitude

Gudauri sits around 2,000–2,200 m. Drink water and take it easy on the first day.

Temperatures sit well below freezing all day. Dress children in thermal layers, waterproof mittens and snow boots, and keep spare gloves in your bag.
