What October brings

The sarb season
After the khareef, the drizzle stops and the sun returns. The hills stay green and most springs still flow.
Calmer seas
The monsoon swell fades through the autumn, opening up beaches and boat trips. Watch the flags and local advice.
Quieter sights
The summer crowds have gone, so viewpoints, springs and hotels are calmer and roads are easier.
Fresh local produce
Coconuts, bananas and papayas from Salalah’s plantations are on sale along the beach road.

Good to know

No major festivals this month
The Khareef festival season and the Dhofar International Theatre Festival both ended in September. October is for nature and slow days.
Looking ahead
Oman’s National Day on 20 November brings flags and lights across the country.
