From St. Leonhard on the city’s southern edge, the cable car climbs to 1,776 m for snowy views over Salzburg. In January and February it runs 09:00–16:00, every half-hour, with the last ride up at 15:30.

Salzburg’s home mountain at 1,287 m, reached by bus 151 from Mirabellplatz. Some trails are groomed for cross-country skiing; others make easy winter walks with views to the Alps.

Snow-sure glacier skiing above Kaprun, open since October 2026, with the Top of Salzburg viewing platform at 3,029 m for non-skiers.

A family-friendly ski mountain above the lake at Zell am See, with views of the high peaks; the town also has an outdoor ice rink.

Above Obertraun near Hallstatt: a 9 km valley run, around 30 km of freeride routes and snowshoe trails. Check lift dates before you go.
