Good to know
Combine the south
Mostar, Blagaj, Počitelj and Kravica fit into one long day with a driver; doing all four is tiring with small children.
Hire a driver
Private drivers are common and good value for families, and know where to stop for prayer and halal lunch.
Shorter days
October light fades by early evening. Leave early and be back before dark on mountain roads.
Pack layers
Mountain villages are colder than the city, and Herzegovina can be warmer; dress for both.
