October 2026

Golden hills, the harvest and the city’s own festival

Key dates

All month · golden autumn
Mid-Oct · harvest in the west
Late Oct · Tbilisoba (check dates)

The season

Rtveli, the grape harvest
Picking starts in late September in eastern Georgia and runs into mid-October in the west, with family feasts and folk songs. For a Muslim-friendly taste of it, join a farm for grape picking, fresh juice and churchkhela-making rather than a cellar tasting.
Tbilisoba
The city festival, held each year in the second half of October, with folk music, crafts and harvest food stalls across the old town. Dates are announced close to the event; wine stalls are part of it, so pick the food and craft areas.
Golden autumn
The trees of Mtatsminda, the Botanical Garden and the riverbanks turn gold through the month; clear days make for long views from Narikala.

Also this month

Mild and mostly dry
Expect highs around 20°C and only a few rainy days, ideal for walking.
Snow on the peaks
Fresh snow often appears on the high Caucasus by late October; check the mountain road before a Kazbegi day.
No clock change
Georgia stays on UTC+4 all year; Europe’s clocks go back on 25 October, so connecting flight times may shift.
