Beyond Zermatt
One extra day can change your trip
Zermatt sits at the end of a long valley, so most trips start by train or by lift. Times are estimates, each way.

Lifts close in storms
High lifts stop in strong wind or heavy snow. Check live lift status on matterhornparadise.ch each morning.
Half Fare and Swiss Travel Pass
Both halve Gornergrat fares; the Swiss Travel Pass covers the trains to and from Zermatt.
Snow on the roads
If driving, use winter tyres and leave the car in Täsch.
