Bursa is a city of mosques, many of them built by the first Ottoman sultans. Visitors are welcome between prayers; time your visits around the five daily prayers.

Etiquette & timing
Dress code
Cover shoulders and knees; women cover their hair. Scarves are usually available at the busiest mosques.
Prayer times
Use the Diyanet prayer-time app. In January the days are short and Dhuhr falls soon after midday.
Friday prayers
The great mosques fill for Friday midday prayer; arrive early to join, or visit as a tourist in the afternoon.
On the mountain
Ask your Uludağ hotel reception for the nearest mescit (prayer room) before you head out to the slopes.
Food & good to know
Halal by default
Meat in ordinary restaurants is generally halal, but certification varies. Look for a helal certificate if that matters to you.
Alcohol
Some restaurants and many ski hotels serve alcohol. Kebab houses and lokantas are usually alcohol-free.
Prayer rooms
Malls, motorway stops and the sea-bus terminals have a mescit; ask for it by name.
Ramadan is not this month
Ramadan 2027 begins in February; January has normal restaurant hours.
